We
had a great time at our first steamup of the year. Located just south
of Mt Pleasant, MI, Shepherd has been having their festival for over 40
years now. The main street of the town had been blocked off and there
was a carnival right in the middle of town. Car show, tractor pulls,
carnival rides, antique tractor show, food and everything else that goes
with a festival. RVs and campers were offered free parking through out
the town and the area swelled to capacity.
The Michigan Small Scale Live Steamers were setup right
outside the Shepherd Depot, now a museum. Setup of the first track
started about 8am and a portable viewing stand for the kids was also setup.
The kids stand was created and donated to the group by our local member Bill
Hendrick. The stand easily broke down for transportation and storage
and was a big success with the younger crowd!
