  • January 14th - 16th - International Small Scale Steamup - (members in attendance)
    This is the big even of the year for many of us.  Many of the people in the club will be at this event, some as early as January 8th!  This one is not to be missed!

  • February 19th - 20th - Ann Arbor Model Railroad Club - 35th Annual Train Show and Sale - (Informational)
    At the Old Saline High School in Saline, Michigan.  Saturday 10am - 4pm and Sunday 10am - 3pm

  • February 27th - The 1st Troy Model Train Show & Sale - (Confirmed Steamup)
    Free parking, 150+ vendors, operating layouts and more.  Admission is $3 and children under 12 are free.

  • March 6th - Gratiot Valley Train Show & Sale, Warren, MI. - (Confirmed Steamup)
    Along with the other displays and a large swap meet area, we will have our large portable live steam track setup and be running all day long.  For information regarding the Gratiot Valley club and their shows, visit their web site: http://chives.michvhf.com/~gvrr/   For additional information regarding our steamup during this event you can contact us via e-mail.  A map and show times are listed the GVRR web site.
     
  • March 19th - Train Show and Steamup at the Lincoln Square Village Mall, Urbana, IL - (members in attendance)
    Track setup is at 8am.  This is a portable dual gauge track with 6 - 7 foot radius curves.

  • April 16th-17th and April 20th-24th - Day Out with Thomas, Greenfield Village, Dearborn, MI - (Informational)
    The classic storybook engine chugs into Greenfield Village.  Take a 20 minute ride, meet Sir Topham Hatt, story telling, videos and other great Thomas stuff!  Check out the web site for the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village for additional information.
     
  • May 13th - 15th - MidWest Small Scale Steamup - St. Louis, MO - (members in attendance)

  • May  13th - 15th - Durand Union Station, Durand Railroad Days - Durand, MI - (Confirmed Steamup)
    This year will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the station.  This steamup is a great time at a wonderful old station and an event not to be missed.  Durand Events Schedule (pdf)    Map of Durand (pdf)
    The MSSLS group will be running on Friday from 11am - 5pm, Saturday from 9am - 5pm and Sunday from 9am - 4pm.

  • May 21st - 22nd - Canterbury Village Steamup - (Confirmed Steamup)
    This is a great event at a wonderful location with good shopping and food in an Old World Village like location.  This event has now become a bi-annual event for us and we look forward to it every year.  We will have both of our portable tracks setup in a large tent for all weather running.  If you can't make it to this one, mark the September event on your calendar.
    Canterbury is located in Lake Orion, Michigan.  Just a few miles off of I-75 and just North of Great Lakes Crossing.

  • May 28th - 30th - Pennsylvania Live Steamers - Annual Memorial Day Weekend Open House - Collegeville, PA - (members in attendance)
    Running live steam locomotives in multiple scales, even ride-on, in a beautiful dedicated park.

  • June 25th - Pine Ridge Lumber Company - Jenison, MI - (members in attendance)
    Annual steamup at Robb & Cheryl Devries' home.  Permanent raised layout with steamup area and a portable raised track with 2 loops.  Contact Robb for additional details @  robbandcheryl@sbcglobal.net

  • July 15th - 17th - Shay Days - Harbor Springs, MI  -  (Confirmed Steamup)
    Great 3 day event celebrating the invention of the SHAY Locomotive on the property of the inventor.  If your into geared locomotives then you don't want to miss this steamup.  All Gauge One geared locomotives are welcome.  You can expect to see Shay, Heisler and Climax locomotives as well as many one of a kind, hand built engines.  Harbor Springs is a beautiful location and a wonderful place to spend a long weekend.
     
  • August 13th - 14th - Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad's Railfans Weekend - Flint, MI - (Confirmed Steamup)
    This is the big one!!  This is the premier event of the year for the MSSLS.  Two days of running live steam locomotives in a great period location.  Steam powered saw mill, cider mill and many other attractions.  Included in our event (for steamers) is an after hours ride, with photo drive bys of their live steam locomotives and a pot luck dinner in the round house.  If you want to make it up to Michigan for one of our events, this is definitely the event you want to be at!  This year will feature #464, one of the last running Mudhens, don't miss the ride!!

  • August 31st - September 3rd - 25th Annual National Narrow Gauge Convention - (Informational)
    This year the event is being hosted at the Hyatt Regency in Dearborn Michigan.  A great location to visit Greenfield Village and the Henry Ford Museum, Crossroads Village and the Huckleberry Railroad, Durand Union Station and other great locations.  For additional information visit their web site at:  http://www.25nngc.com/home.html
     
  • September 3rd - 5th - Pennsylvania Live Steamers - Annual Labor Day Weekend Open House - Collegeville, PA - (informational)
    Running live steam locomotives in multiple scales, even ride-on, in a beautiful dedicated park.
     
  • September 3rd - 4th - Tiny Train Days -  Steam Railroading Institute, Owosso, MI
    A weekend celebration to close the Steam Railroading Institute's Summer Season featuring various model railroad layouts and live steam equipment.

  • September 10th - 11th  - The Greater Cincinnati Garden Railway Society Steamup - (informational)

  • September 10th - 11th - Canterbury Village Steamup - (Confirmed Steamup)
    This is a great event at a wonderful location with good shopping and food in a village like location.  This is the second time we will be at this location this year and it will be a great time for everyone!

  • October 15-16 - Grayling Steam Special - Riding behind the Pere Marquette # 1225
    A joint operation between the Steam Railroading Institute and the Bluewater Michigan Chapter National Railway Historical Society is scheduled as a pair of excursion trains between the Bay City, MI area and Grayling pulled by the Pere Marquette No. 1225.  Visit the Bluewater Michigan Chapter web site for additional details.
     
  • November 6th - Gratiot Valley Railroad Swap Meet - (Confirmed Steamup)
    Once again the MSSLS will be running live steam locomotives at the Gratiot Valley Swap meet. Macomb Community College Sports & Expo Center.  The event runs from 10am to 4pm.  Besides the exhibits there is a huge swap meet of model trains and food and drinks are available.  For additional information see the GVRR Swap Meet Flyer.
