Our
first sponsored event of 2004, the Shepherd Depot is just 9 miles south of
Mt. Pleasant, MI. This years steamup is part of their 46th Annual
Maple Syrup Festival. When this event started in 1958 they made 100
gallons of syrup and server a few hundred meals. Last year they server
over 12,000 meals during the 3 day event. Throughout the weekend
Pancakes & Sausage meals will be available for $5. The syrup is made
right there in Shepherd and the sausage as well.
As with any festival there will be lots to do. Most of the town
turns out with garage sales, there will be Syrup and candy sales, Antique
Tractor Displays, tractor pulls, amusement rides, arts & crafts shows and a
variety of other festival events. Even free RV parking throughout the
village.
